As a result of the regular review of Annex II, the following four phthalates listed below, which are toxic to reproduction, have been added to the list.
There are now safer substitutes for these phthalates.
The maximum permissible concentration in homogeneous materials in percent by weight is shown in brackets.
- Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) (0.1%)
- Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP) (0.1%)
- Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) (0.1%)
- Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) (0.1%)
In the current publication, the member states are requested to bring the new regulation into force by June 22, 2019.
For certain device groups, such as medical devices and monitoring and control instruments, the restrictions will not apply until 2021.
