RoHS 2015/863- Positioning

On June 4th, 2015 amending Annex II to the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU was published on the Restriction of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment in the Official Journal of the European Union by the delegates Directive 2015/863.

By periodical verification of Annex II, the following four reprotoxic phthalates have been newly added to the list. For these phthalates there are now safer substitutes.

In brackets the maximum allowable concentration in homogeneous materials in percent by weight.

  •          Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) (0,1%)
  •          Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP) (0,1%)
  •          Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) (0,1%)
  •          Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) (0,1%)

In the current publication, the Member States are requested to put the new regulation into effect until June 22nd 2019. For specific groups of devices such as medical devices and monitoring and control instruments, the restrictions apply only from 2021.
